4/1/20 - 4/25/21
Sweat
Written by Lynn Nottage, "Sweat," is a play based in the town of Reading, Pennsylvania, where a group of factory workers explore the struggles of race, keeping a job, and being in a city that is struggling economically.
Due to COVID-19, "Sweat" was filmed rather than performed in front of a live audience. Kate had the role of Sound Designer for this production. This means that Kate helped design the recording system used during filming, and supervised the post-production sound process.

The Miser
11/9/20 - 4/11/21
Written by Moliere and adapted by David Ball, "The Miser," is a play that will keep you laughing through the entire show. Harpagon, the miser, holds on to money while the people around him search for love.

Kate had the role of Sound Designer and composer for this production. The show was preformed live outside on the UNCSA campus Winston-Salem, NC, at the end of April 2021.

Mindscapes
8/18/20 - 11/19/20

Kate got to be the Sound Designer and one of the writers for an immersive entertainment project during a class in Fall 2020. Exploring how different states of mind work, Kate composed original music to go along with an exhibit that encourages emotional intelligence. Written by students of Northwest University and directed by Chrystal Helmcke, "Rise Up," is a devised play that challenges your view on racial stereotypes.

Kate had the role of post-production Sound Designer and composer for this filmed production. The show is currently scheduled to screened sometime in Fall 2021 on the NU campus.
The King & I
2/9/20 - 3/11/20

Due to COVID-19 "The King & I" was cancelled. Kate was sad that she didn't get a chance to be the mix engineer for the beautiful show. But is glad that the Piedmont Opera was listening to the advice of the CDC to help keep people safe and healthy.


Infectious Diease
3/13/20 - 5/1/20

"Infectious Disease" is a video game installation that Kate was the sound designer on. The game itself was created by students from NC State. Her job was to create atmospheric tracks that went with the 3 phases of the game. Phase 1, being everything is normal. Phase 2, is restricted access. Phase 3, being the new virtual normal. Her goal was to create these different atmospheric tracks for 4 different locations. A coffee shop, a school, a place of work, and a grocery store. Outlaw
2/1/20 - 3/12/20

"Outlaw" is a video game that was created by 2 NC State students, Anna Martin & Orion Qin. The game itself is about the zodiac killer. Kate was the sound designer for the game and she had a lot of fun working on this project because it challenged her creative process. Below are some samples of sounds that Kate made for the game.

Boomball
1/13/20 - 2/30/20
"Boomball" is a pachinko & pinball game that Kate sound designed for. Her goal was to create a modern digital sounding version of a pachinko game that contrasted with a vintage pinball game. How Kate accomplished this was using original 80's music for the pinball machine. Then for the Pachinko machine, Kate created remixes of the original 80's songs. Soundscape: Same Sh*t. Different Year.
Feb 7 - Feb 25, 2020

In our current climate, it's easy to think that we're living in an unprecedented era, but history constantly repeats itself. "Same Sh*t. Different Year." is an interactive soundscape that focuses on the information we exchange, the spaces where we exchange it, and the technology that assists in that conversation.

Kate was the head sound engineer for this interactive installation. Her role was to help manage the project and program computers and sound boards to talk to each other.

A Midsummer Night's Dream
8/26/19 - 10/8/19



"A Midsummer Night's Dream," was quite the rave! Kate's role, during this unique take on this Shakespeare production, was the head sound engineer. That meant that she lead the sound crew and ran the sound board during the run of the show. This was by far one of Kate's favorite renditions of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
Still Life With Rocket
3/22/19 - 4/13/19
Performed in an abandoned cigarette factory, Kate was the assistant sound designer on the devised piece "Still life with Rocket." Her job was to update all of the paperwork, assist in the build of the sound system, and assist the sound designer during tech week.

This was such a unique experience for Kate. She had never done a devised piece before, so it was really enlightening to learn how the design process is different compared to a scripted play.




Party For People
12/30/18 - 1/1/18

"Party for People," was a fundraising event held on New Year's Eve 2018, to fight against homelessness. The event was organized by the artist OLIE G. who invited other local talent from the Seattle area to help in raising money to help support those in need! Kate was the sound board operator for this awesome event.
Princess Power Medley Cover

"The Princess Power Medley," was a music video performed, filmed, and produced solely by women, celebrating their love for Disney, theater, and the Broadway Princess Party.

Kate was so glad to not only work with some amazing, talented women. But she was also excited to work with Creatio Studios!

Werther

12/11/18 - 2/5/19



"Werther" was Kate's first opera to work on. Her role was the assistant sound deck engineer. Kate would make sure all of the communication units were operational and with the correct stage crew. Kate also would do a check list before each rehearsal and run of the show to make sure the intercom system was functioning correctly. Kate loved working on this show!
Leonard Bernstein's "Mass"
8/20/18 - 10/1/18
Leonard Bernstein's "Mass" was the first show Kate did in graduate school. Kate was the sound deck engineer. Her job was to monitor the 30 wireless microphones to make sure they where fully charged and functioning properly.

This was truly an amazing experience for Kate, not only because it kicked off her graduate school experience, but also because it is one of Kate's favorite productions she has ever done. To have over 300 people on stage was quite the experience.






Standing Ovation
4/5/19


Kate did one last stand-up special before graduating with her BFA. It was called "Standing Ovation." Kate shared stories of growing up as a baptist, working in a hardware store, and the adventures of applying to grad school.
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
1/13/18 - 3/24/18


Kate took to the stage one last time before graduating from her undergrad, Northwest University. In "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," Kate got to portray "Snoopy," the lovable, happy dog that brings the fans of "Peanuts" joy. Kate was so honored to do a musical one last time before moving on to grad school. This by far, was Kate's favorite role she had ever been given.

"Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead," was the first official show at Northwest University that Kate worked behind the sound board. Kate found it really fun to finally be taking her passion for sound and connecting it to her other passion, theater. Her many sound roles included, sound board operator, sound designer, and assistant light board operator. To the left are some samples that Kate used in her sound design.
Kate was so honored to portray "Mrs. Van Daan," in "The Diary of Anne Frank." It was a challenging role that stretched Kate and helped her not only grow as an actor but also as a human.

That's Why I'm Single
4/18/16


Kate is a part-time stand-up comic. In her special, "That's Why I'm Single," Kate explored the many things that cause her singleness. Things like her addiction to donuts, inability to wear makeup properly, and her sassy personality.
A Midsummer Night's Dream

Kate's second play at Northwest University was "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Kate played the role of "Patty Quince," who was the leader of the acting troupe in the play. It was so fun for Kate to laugh everyday as she brought comic relief to the stage.

Quilters
9/12/15 - 11/14/15

"Quilters," was the first musical that Kate did at Northwest University. It was a joy for her to be apart of this production and learn more about acting. Kate played the main role of "Sarah," who the play is based around.
End Scene Improv
Sept 2014 - May 2018


Kate boldly auditioned for the improv troupe that was at her undergrad, Northwest University, when she was just a mere freshman. She made it on to the team as the first freshman to be accepted. After that she remained on the team for four years. She was Vice President of the troupe for two years as well as president for one.
